The German Design Award 2021 once again this year honors particularly innovative products and projects as well as manufacturers and designers. Under the motto "All Eyes On" there will be a pandemic from February 12th to March 12th this year diverse digital program give.
The award-winning designs and ideas are considered to be particularly groundbreaking for the design world. This year's focus is on innovation, brand, sustainability and digitalization. They are discussed by design experts and industry experts in talks, interviews and lectures.
Digital communication of design, brands and innovations
As part of the diverse online program, those interested in design can spend a month informing themselves about trends and innovations as well as the winning projects of this year's German Design Award. Of particular interest to many: the presentation of the "Newcomer of the Year" and the "Personality of the Year".
So much can be said: This year's Personality Award went to the Italian-American architect and curator of the Museum of Modern Art in New York Paola Antonelli. With the "German Design Award Personality 2021", the jury would like to honor their commitment to design and culture. The person succeeded in making design a cultural asset for the general public as part of an individual and social identity.
Sustainability as a new leitmotif
The German Design Award 2021 is presented in the three award disciplines: "Excellent Product Design", "Excellent Communications Design" and "Excellent Architecture". The annual award winners are not only exemplary for the economic and cultural value of design.
They also offer orientation and represent current topics and design directions. Also, this year some green projects are among the 76 gold winners. The topic of sustainability is therefore becoming increasingly important.
The German Design Council has been the world's leading competence center for communication and knowledge transfer in the areas of design, brands and innovation for many years. One of the central tasks of the council is therefore to observe, analyze and evaluate the international design processes. With the German Design Award, the council established one of the most recognized design awards worldwide.
